Re: A great way to start the new year

Yes Doc! One of the very few New Years Days I've woken sober. So didn't want to waste it. In amongst the mountains, photographing and then walking, from dawn to dusk. What better way to start a New Year and a New Decade.

And a Happy New Year to you as well!

Nice...!

A nice picture of a regular view.
Many times Crib Goch is visible like this with the rest of Snowdons summit staying hidden in the clouds.
All the best for the new year.
David.

ligts Bryan, were you standing on top of a vehicle, just seems high compared to the roadside !

Re: Fantstic

No!. I had stopped there because of the foreground, and wandered around a bit until I got the right perspective. The only height was because I was standing on some frozen snow right up against the fence!

Re: Fantastic

Hi Bryan, should have known better really as it is my `back garden` so to speak.
Had a look at a similar photo of mine and there is a dip in the road just by the sheds on the l/h side.

Re: Fantastic

You live there! But I suppose it's less than a six hour drive for me to get in amongst those wonderful mountains.

Re: Fantastic

I live near Llanberis, bang in the middle of the hills :)
I also work for the National Trust which has 3,000 acres of land in Dyffryn Mymbyr, the entrance opposite the sheds on the r/h side are to the main house where Esme Kirby lived, after she dies she gave the houses and land to the NT.
Esme Kirby was married to Thomas Firbank whom wrote the book `I Bought a Mountain`.

Re: Fantastic

Wonderful place to live and work. With your eveyday sights being something like the above. Thank you for the background info!

Really Stands Out

The Crib is looking awesome. And my introduction to winter climbing - some intro, it was the second most perilous day of my life.

A story along this road. With the Pub closed and nowhere to sleep, 3 of us snuck into someone's garage along here, where we slept on cement bags. The owner arrived in the morning, much to his surprise, to find us cooking beans. A kind Welshman who allowed us to stay.
