Crowd up North Col, Tibet side of Everest

Crowd up North Col, Tibet side of Everest

Crowd going up Everest. This is one of the best parts of the climb of Mount Everest from the North -Tibetan- side. A maze of huge chunks of ice and snowy plateaus, this is the way from the upper parts of the Rongbuk glacier at 6600m to the NorthCol at 7000m altitude. The route is actually across a hanging glacier and some crevasses will be crossed, though not all will be seen :-) About 400 vertical meters high, this section can take anything from 1-6 hours, depending on your acclimatisation and fitness and if you are Sherpa or not.. Not black and white, though it might appear so.. (copyrighted as all images)

Gorgeous

Now that's the kind of shot that really makes you want to be there.

Re: Gorgeous

Thanks Alan. It is the best part of the climb and worth a trip in itself. The views from North Col are also very beautiful.
