Hiked as part of the Baldy 9-peaks loop. Saw a covey of California quails (~12 with lots of little peanut size babies) just before the summit.

I was worried that I wouldn't be able to climb this peak because it was foggy and the weather looked bad. We drove up the canyon and suddenly emerged above a huge cloud layer. It was a nice sunny day. Icehouse Canyon was very scenic. We made it to the summit around 2:00. Clouds were stretched all the way across the Southern Califonia horizon. I could see San Jacinto and San Gorgonio popping above the clouds. Gorgonio was the only peak with snow on it. Nice hike with a great view.

First of three peaks this day to celebrate my 40th birthday; Cucamonga, Bighorn, Timber. Perfect weather, even a tiny bit of snow, enough for a snowball anyway. Saw no one from Icehouse canyon on up to the summit

Nice morning but it got windy around sunup. Not too windy on top but a little chilly for shorts and a tee. Saw no people (except for 2 sleeping campers at the saddle) untill just before the Icehouse Saddle on the way back!

Number 6 of 10 peak saga comprising Baldy, Harwood, Thunder, Timber, Telegraph, Etiwanda, Bighorn, Ontario, and Sugarloaf. Didn't realize this peak has some of the best views in the San Gabriels.

Wow! We left the trailhead at 5:45 am. The views were fantastic. As you go up more towards the saddle you see Mount Baldy. We didnt think there would be any snow being May and all. We were wrong. We came to our first slab of snow about 1 hour into the trip. Then as we went on we saw more snow and more! The trail was cut off by lots of snow now. We had to go through it to reach the trail once again heading towards the saddle. We arrived at the saddle at 9:00. We suddenly realized we werent going anywhere. The trail to cucamonga was covered in snow. We didnt reach the summit . When we left it was 10:45 we arrived at the car about noon.

WOW, i took my two kids and left the parking area at 10.00am.. Overcast and slightly cold with just a few sun bursts out. it took us 1hour 15 minutes to reach the 1 mile marker. We saw 7 people on the way up and a few on the way down..The highlight for all three of us was the water coming out of the side of the mountain and trail water at your feet..We just ran out of juice to finish, which we were

going to cedar glen..A fast return at 37 mimutes and a great hike to start the season off..

It wasn't the exhilarating ridge scramble I'd hoped for based on the route description on here, but it was a pleasant walk with some nice scenery along the way. Summit views were mostly of haze.

A great trip. Combined this with a side trip to Ontario Peak. Cucamonga is far better than Ontario in my opinion.

Growing up in Rancho I spent my entire childhood looking at this peak. I feel ashamed to have neglected it for so long. This is my favorite peak of the group near Mt. Baldy. Unfortunately, you will roll the dice for a clear day.
