Cuesta Blanca snowfield

Cuesta Blanca snowfield
Photo taken near some good camps at 4400 meters/14,400 feet. This snowfield looks fairly steep and is the most likely if not the only part of the climb you may need crampons or an ice axe. We did not need either (though we had both with us). We made use of the small rock island about 1/3 of the way over from the right edge of the photo to minimize the distance on snow. It turns out at least this part of the snowfield is good sized penitentes that you have to pound through, which is another good reason to keep the distance traveled on snow to a minimum.
