Hi Moni, I looked at the map and yes you are right of course, it is close to the border but is in the Bernese Alps, so no Wallis indeed!

It can be both in Wallis and in the Bernese Alps.... Basically the Bernese Alps include the mountains north of the Rhone river, and are spread in 6 different cantons: Valais, Lucerne, Obwalden, Fribourg, Vaud and Bern.

In the particular case, Culan is located in Canton Vaud, so neither in Bern nor in Valais, but still in the Bernese Alps.

South of the Rhone valley are the Pennine Alps (which we call Valais Alps in Switzerland), extending at the border between Valais and Italy.

There are good definitions of the Bernese and Pennine Alps in both SP and Wikipedia
