Newcomb's Ranch

Newcomb's Ranch is a great place to relax after a tough hike or climb in the San Gabriel Mountains. They have excellent service, great food, and a relaxing atmosphere. This is the best place to spend your remaining time in the western San Gabriel's following a hike or climb in the region.

The Ranch was built in 1939, and after serving many fuctions from general store, to gas station, it burned down in 1976, and was rebuilt as a restaurant, for which it serves to this day.

Newcomb's Ranch is a restaurant west of Route 39, on the western stretch of SR2 before its termination at Islip Saddle. Many hikers, bikers, and prior to Williamson rock's closure, climbers, come here to catch a meal and a drink, and relax after a day of activity.

They offer typical casual American food, such as burgers, various sandwiches, burritos, enchiladas, steak dinners, and drinks.

Getting There

Newcomb's Ranch is 45 miles north of Los Angeles, in the Eastern half of the San Gabriel Mountains. They are open 7 days a week.

Take I-210 EAST (Pasadena Freeway)
Exit Angeles Crest Highway in La Canada Flintridge
Head EAST on Angeles Crest Highway (Uphill)
Continue on Angeles Crest Highway
Pass Angeles Forest Highway (Palmdale turn off)
Pass Mt Wilson turn off
Pass Upper Big Tujunga turn off
Arrive at Newcomb’s Ranch on the Left side (approximately 27 miles)
