Surfing the Berchtesgaden AlpsIn order to learn more about the Berchtesgaden Alps, I made myself a Google Earth KMZ file which contains a directory of peaks, passes and huts in the area. For huts, I listed when they open and close, along with a web link if one was available. For peaks I listed the elevation and anything else I could think of. The list of passes may be useful if you are planning a multi-day hiking trip. I didn't draw in trails, but believe me, they are everywhere.
I've stored the file on my own server. You can get it here.
If you want to know how to view the file, visit http://earth.google.com in your web browser to download Google Earth. It's a wonderful tool.RevisionsFeb 7, 2008: posted version 1 of the BerchtesgadenAlps.kmz file.
