Cutthroat Lake

Cutthroat Lake

Cutthroat Lake lies in a cirque basin at the head of the Hayden Fork drainage as part of the bigger Bear River drainage. It is 10,430 ft in elevation and has proven in the past to be a great place for isolation and to catch an eastern brook trout or 2 or 3. This is usually our lunch stop on the way to hiking Mt. Marsell (11.340 ft) which overlooks Kamas and Lofty lakes, Bald Mtn & Reids Peak and the headwaters of the Weber River. On a clear day on top of Mt.Marsell, you can see all the way to the Wasatch Front (100 miles or so)
