Hasn't voted | Thanks much for the comment! They are certainly scary looking, but those pincers really aren't very functional. I'm uploading a shot tonight of my two-year old son (now three) holding a different one that we found on Prague Castle last spring. The females, which just look like really big beetles without the pincers, actually deliver a nastier bite that does hurt. in that part of the world.
This beetle reminds me of the "Scarab" beetle
seen in the first and second "MUMMY" movies.
I'm assuming this beetle has a bad reputation, similar to the Pit Bull and the

Hasn't voted | I love Prague; I'm of Czech descent and have lived there for a total of about 2.5 years and it's my favorite city in Europe.
