"Dances with Wolves" Country

Early in Dances with Wolves, John Dunbar (Kevin Costner) rides through some stunningly rugged country on his way to his new post. That scene was filmed in Badlands National Park.

This mixed scene of prairie and badlands buttes is across the road from the Saddle Pass parking area and is indicative of the limitless off-trail wandering possible in this park.
