Pine Martens are quite large and sleek compared to the Sciurus family

in N. America, I would identify it as:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Western_Gray_Squirrel

as compared to:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pine_marten

Note that the ears of a pine marten face towards you when they are looking at you, while a squirrel's ears are perpendicular to where they are looking

Thanks for the feedback. Meantime I have shown the picture to several people and it looks more and more like it was just a dark squirrel. I saw it from much further than my picture shows it, and I was just puzzled by its color.
I don't think it is a grey squirrel, I heard they are met in UK but I think it's not the case in Poland yet.
