Death Valley Super Bloom Sunset

Death Valley Super Bloom Sunset

When I heard about the Death Valley Super Bloom I packed up my camera gear and headed out from Oklahoma. I would spend four full days there shooting much of the remote areas of the park. But, this shot from my first evening there would turn out to be my favorite. My last night camped there was pretty rough. The winds were blowing strongly, and periodically throughout the night I'd hear some shouts from nearby campers as their tents blew free. The next morning I'd see that about half of the tents in Texas Springs Campground were now gone. I would later learn that the winds were gusting up to 45 MPH. After I left the next morning I'd read reports that the strong winds had also done a lot to ruin the fantastic flower display that I witnessed for those four days. Imaged in March 2016.
