| reboyles | High/Low Trip ![]() Date Climbed: Oct 24, 2001 | |
| I had a set of National Geo maps that showed the highest point (Whitney) in the continental U.S. and the lowest in the western hemisphere (Bad Water) so we cooked up a trip to do both. One day we were on top of Whitney where it was near zero in the morning and a day later we were sipping beers in shorts and t-shirts while enjoying the 90 degree temperatures in Death Valley. | ||

| Tonka | Death Valley in July? I'm an idiot. ![]() Date Climbed: Jul 24, 2012 | |
| Spent just a day here but we were doing Whitney so we wanted the lower 48 low and highpoint. Average temp in the valley was running at 122 F with spikes in areas above that. Beautiful country. Telescope is on my list. | ||

| SeanReedy | Cool Times ![]() Date Climbed: Jan 1, 2009 | |
| Visited for about 4 days around New Year's Day 2009 and for almost a week in early April 2011. Both times we made the fun drive in on Death Valley Road from Big Pine and spent the night at Eureka Dunes prior to heading to U. Crater, Scotty's Castle, Titus/Fall Canyons, Stovepipe Wells area, Badwater-Furnace Creek area. Both times experienced cool/cold/snowy weather. 2011- Tagged an obscure summit near the mining area NE of Eureka Dunes and spent several days camped in a cool canyon out a 4X4 road between Daylight Pass and Chloride City. ...Made it back for more adventures February and April 2012. DVNP may be an annual trip. Darn. | ||

| I've been to Death Valley twice, the first time in January 1999, the second in March 2005. The second was after a very rainy winter and the flowers were incredible! | ||

| chewbachman | Hot at the bottom/Pretty cool view from the top! ![]() Date Climbed: May 24, 2009 | |
| We took a day to escape the heat and hiked up to top of Telecscope Peak. What an amazing view... we were able to see Badwater and Mt. Whitney (The lowest and highest parts of the lower 48 states) from the same place. This was an awesome trip and I would definitely recommend it to anyone. | ||

| moohead | Hot hot hot | |
| Visited DV as a young child. All I remember was that it was 120 degrees and the visitor center was the only place I wanted to explore because it was cool inside. Will definitely visit again - next time I'll venture outdoors! | ||

| And I agree that looking up to the Sea Level sign at Badwater is a unique experience. The last time I was at Badwater, it felt like a blast furnace - a 120 degree wind feels hot. | ||
