| atroutner | huckleberry trail ![]() Date Climbed: Aug 27, 2007 | |
| Jerry osborne joined me for this lovely hike. Our approach, which we liked, was a little different than listed on the main page. We drove to Decker flat and then turned left on to a two track road that petered out near the forests edge. We then found the huckleberry trail which is on the right hand side of the creek. Locating the trail is the hard part as there is no trailhead. The trail seems to diverge into myriad cow paths before it leaves the forest. Our method for finding the trail was to enter the woods on the north side of the creek and make our way to the base of the hill where we soon found the trail. It is not well used but has been sawn out in the last two years so is not too dificult to follow. We gained the Hell roaring-Redfish trail in about 1.25 hours. From there we pretty much followed the southern route as described on the main page. This saved the attrocious drive on the hell roaring "road". We took 4.5 hours up and a leisurly 4 hrs back. Only one other party had signed the register for this year and none for the previous two years. Another "private Idaho"experience. | ||

| asmrz | From Cramer Lakes in 1974 Date Climbed: Aug 14, 1974 | |
| Hiked up Decker Peak from one of the upper Cramer Lakes in August of 1974. My ex wife and I were on a month long backpacking trip in the Sawtooths and White Clouds, one of the most memorable trips of my life. I have not been to these mountains since. I just hope that they are as majestic and uncrowded as they were then. | ||

| Scrambling Man | A Forgotten Peak ![]() Date Climbed: Jun 24, 2004 | |
| Camped at Middle Cramer Lake the night before. The lake has a magnificent waterfall and view of the Arrowhead. Climbed from Middle Cramer Lake the next day with two friends from the Midwest. Left the trail just north of Lower Cramer Lake at the stream. Followed the stream to just before the small pond that is south of the summit. Went straight up a steep gully to the ridge near the summit. On the descent we followed the ridge south to the saddle and then down to the pond. Another great Sawtooth Peak. | ||
