Voted 10/10 | Nice image. Is it at night?
When I attended the USAF Basic Survival School we spent four days in the mountains near Spokane--8 feet of snow--on homemade snowshoes. Not a good time! :-(
Thanks for adding it to the Why Do You Do It album!

It' s about 11am ;) We knew that there would be a lot of snow but we didn' t have snowshoes (not even self made ones)... But that was no problem (avalanche danger was at the end...)

We did this for... I don' t know about 1.5km and finally the slope got too steep so we weren' t sure about the avalanche conditions anymore and finally turned back :( But a great trip anyhow!

Hasn't voted | I don't have much memories of that time but I remeber when I was a kid that there was much more snow in Munich (and it stayed longer than a few days...)!

Voted 10/10 | That's an awesome pic. You really get lots of snow on Notkarspitze! | | Posted Nov 27, 2010 11:44 am |
 | | Lukas Kunze | Re: Knee deep snow. | |
Hasn't voted | Thanks! Well, actually it's more than knee deep! We where walking on the branches of the mountain pines which are all over the place (it works better than it sounds). But every now and then you miss a twig and then you're in up to your chest... it's quite a workout to get on top of the pines again...
