| Jonodo | Cold Springs Canyon ![]() Date Climbed: Jun 25, 2011 | |
| Hiked the twins out of Cold Springs Canyon. The stock trail is getting overgrown but is still visible in most places. The road to Basque summit was muddy and impassable so we had to backtrack. The day turned out harder than I was expecting but the Spencer Hot Springs that evening took care of the aches. Hit Bunker Hill the next day. Fun weekend with Greg D. | ||

| SageHawk | Loooong hike from Carrol Summit ![]() Date Climbed: Jun 23, 2009 | |
| Made the very long hike from the end of the 4wd road that leads north for about 1/2 mi from Carrol Summit. Requires scaling or skirting quite a few small peaks along the way. Saw a herd of wild horses on one of the peaks. Great views. Leave early if you attempt this route. No trail except for the occasional horse track. Way too many domestic cattle along the way. | ||

| A Bit | Rock Creek Ridges ![]() Date Climbed: May 16, 2008 | |
| Drove in from Reno on a clear, warm day. This is a steep approach through Pinyon Pine and Mountain Mahogany forest. Above treeline, most of the snow was gone but not much in the way of wildlife yet. | ||

| Followed the Cold Springs Canyon route. Quite a lot of snow. Someone has done some trail maintenance, so the trial was in good condition and easy to follow along the creek. | ||

| BeDrinkable | love this area ![]() | |
| This is a wonderful area where I've spent a lot of time as a youngster. Many of these desert ranges contain little jewels: year-round springs, moss-lined canyons, high meadows teeming with wildlife. It seems more precious when surrounded by breathtaking high desert landscapes. | ||

| puddinator | Carrol Summit north along ridge Date Climbed: Jun 23, 2005 | |
| This was an all-day hike that needed every bit of the long solstice daylight. Hiking along the Desatoya spine was exhilarating with awesome views in all directions. It's tempting to follow the horse trails but they don't exactly lead anywhere. In retrospect I would have backpacked and spent the nite out instead of hurrying back before twilight set in. | ||

| Enjoyable high-sage hike. We camped on a hillock and made the round trip in about 4 hours. Beautiful hike, classic Great Basin peak. | ||

| Dennis Poulin | Route Climbed: Northeast route from Basque Summit Date Climbed: 2 Oct 2004 ![]() | |
| Great climb with Dean during hunting season. The weather deteriorated on the way back to the car. First snow pellets, then hail, then rain, and just as we got to the car lightning. We got wet but we also got the summit and the County Highpoint of Churchill County. | ||

| Dean | Route Climbed: Northwest route Date Climbed: Oct 2, 2004 ![]() | |
| Dennis Poulin and I found ourselves in the midst of many hunters as hunting season opened on the same day as we climbed this peak. Careful to wear bright orange, we waited for about a half hour as hunters shot at deer that were on our route. After those skittish critters left the area, we carried on with our hike. Nice peak but if you had the right 4WD vehicle, you could actually start at 9000 feet. Hmmm. | ||

| ScottyS | Route Climbed: Rock Creek Ridges Date Climbed: May 29, 2004 ![]() | |
| Drove out from Bridgeport, CA and climbed this steep approach in the morning with Barry Beck and then drove over to the Shoshones to get North Shoshone Peak in the afternoon --- driving back to Bridgeport in the evening. 4hrs car-to-car on the Twins, with ~4100' gain and maybe 7mi. Saw some Sage Hen and Chukar near treeline. | ||

| Climbed this peak and North Shoshone Peak with ScottyS on a warm Saturday in May. Outside of air quailty, the views are wonderful from the summit. | ||
