Descending the Old Chute on Hood

Descending the Old Chute on Hood

Looking down the Old Chute route on Mt Hood during our descent. The tower in the background is Crater Rock, presumably the remnants of an old lava dome. The snow ahead of the rock is being slowly chewed away by active fumaroles that make the whole place smell like rotten eggs. See the ski lift? Taken July 10, 2007.
