Descent from Molas lake

The trail is good (popular with trail runners) and very steep with many switchbacks. It is about 3 miles down to the Animas River. There is a nice pedestrian bridge across the Animas River. You will have to cross the railroad and will end up near the Elk Creek railroad station.
