There is also another chute just to the left of this one (a very short distance along the trail) which is likely class 4 on good rock which also takes on up to the ridge above leading to Charleston.

The first time I tried this was down climb. I didn't know the exact spot to descent but made it without using ropes. I scrambled down east face instead of standard north face.
East Face
I think north face route is easier up/down.
North Face

Great route! More entertaining than the ever boring final set of North Loop switchbacks. We like to take this shortcut expecially during our three peak hike.
