No black flies!Beautiful day in the high peaks. Clear, cool, breezy, and not a black fly to be seen. The Leach trail was in great shape. Still a few patches of snow in the woods near the top.

Dial to NippletopLot of snow. Broke trail most of the way. Slow going. We originally wanted to do Colvin, but everyone was too tired. We came back over the fish hawk cliffs and Indian Head. We managed to camp in a low spot and the wind was howlin' above our heads. We were comfy. Learned our lesson from the year before, I suppose. :-)

Thunderstorm!Nasty thunderstorm on the way down from Nippletop. Unfortunately I didn't learn my lesson with thunderstorms until eleven years later during an even nastier T-storm.

meltingVia bear den. The fresh, heavy snow (varying from 1 to 4 inches) from the night before was quite beautiful, but everything began to melt throughout the day. Snow falling off the trees made us very wet.
