Directly West

Directly West

Looking directly west from the summit into the drainage of the North Fork Imnaha River. Sentinel Peak on the left, Peak 9395 center and Petes Point right.

West

Actually you are looking west rather than east in this photo. Peak 9395 is also known as Polaris Point and has an SP page.

Re: West

Doh! Thanks. Don't know why I put that.
I always call it Polaris Peak too. Wonder why the maps never do, it's a pretty significant one. Looks like I voted on it too so I should know it. From Petes Point, it sure looked like it had a big snow-filled crater up top too.

Re: West

I do that all the time. I must be somewhat dislexic as I'm always switching left and right in my captions.

Yes, it is a neat mountain and the view of it from Petes Pt. is spectacular. I was on top as the sun set and it got dark fast. The summit area is very large with about subtle three points. At least thats what I thought I saw in the dim light. Walked back to camp in the dark, which fortunately was just below on the east flank of the mountain.

Re: West

I'll be back to knock off this one in a couple years. We had to bail on it this past year but I want to go back and hit everything from Polaris to Cusick and spend some time in the Lakes Basin. I'm working on a trip report from this past summer in the Wallowas now that might interest you (when I get it finished/edited). Thanks!
