Total 2565.3341-metred height :D

Beautiful park, lackluster summit  Sucess!

I don't mean to be too disparaging - it is a wonderful park with many worthy hiking trails (even if a few are guide-mandatory). The peak itself is nothing to aspire to, however. Paved to the summit and forested, which leaves a lot to the imagination. Definitely explore the surrounding area, though. Lots to discover!

2x  Sucess!

Second trip was a quick side trip en route from Khun Yuam back to Chiang Mai after doing the better part of the Mae Hong Son loop. Lots of fires throughout the area made it smoky but still a great time, cool seeing the less visited Mae Pan waterfall to the west.

First trip was as a private tour on January 7, 2011 from Chiang Mai and really enjoyed the day. The forest was very scenic, especially the nature trail near the summit. Really liked the Vachiratharn Waterfall too.

cool place  Sucess!

I didn't find any real hiking trails, but the area does have some very nice waterfalls.

Summit  Sucess!

Another country highpoint! The flowers and birds were great. Enjoyed the area. Great van tour with people from all over the world! When I'm too old to snow ski, I think I'll retire to Ciang Mai!

Long time ago...  Sucess!

I remember being up this point many years ago (I didn't even have a digital camera at that time). I got a ride from a two families going up there. I went to a nice garden in the area too. Nice Moments I hadn't thought of in years...

Route Climbed: Summit Road Date Climbed: January 17, 2006  Sucess!

I had to go to the highest mountain in Thailand while I was there. Went with my mom, dad, and two of my cousins. We had a great day in this national park. We also hiked the Gew Mae Pan trail, visited the Phra Mahathat Temple, and saw many waterfalls. The next day we went to Doi Suthep-Pui National Park which I also recommend.

Route Climbed: One and only asphalt road from Cham Thom to summit. Suggested pack animal: little red pickups called "Songthaews". Date Climbed: 15 April 2005  Sucess!

If you're a climber/former climber living in Thailand, it's your duty to travel to it's highest point. If you like it, then I suggest you buy an air ticket to Seattle for more.
