Downclimbing the South Ridge on Thunder

Taken from about 1/4 down the South Ridge coming off Thunder Pyramid. We were on our way traversing over to Point 13,722 "Lightning Pyramid". This ridge was serious class-4 with frequent class-5 moves. These peaks are still standing only under sheer will!

Nothing like poor rock to make you focus!

At least that's what it does to me. And I guess to others as well, or Darwin takes over.

I'm curious about one thing though: why keep that axe at the ready and not tucked away? This section looks like it would be better to have both hands fully available...
