The central gully route was still full of snow forcing us to downclimb what otherwise would have been an easy scramble. Mount Baker is in the distance, July 23, 2011.

Thanks Sarah! I have a strong dislike for downclimbing steep snow. Unfortunately this year the snow in Washington has been very slow to melt, so I've had to do this sort of thing more than ever before. -Adam

Did you have a hairy bergshrund at the base of the pyramid? That's what I remember about our climb. It was really steep, and if you feel, you'd probably peel everyone else on the rope off and you'd all go into the bergshrund. I thought it was pretty scary at times.
