Dragonfly in Red Rock of Nevada

Dragonfly in Red Rock of Nevada

Red Skimmer Dragonfly. This photo was taken in Terrace Canyon of Red Rocks in Southern Nevada. The peak in the background is Bridge Mountain. While hiking up the canyon I have noticed that one dragonfly seems to be attracted to one particular branch of a small plant growing near the waterfall. I sat in front of the branch and waited for the dragonfly to come back. A half hour later I got this picture. Enjoy.

Re: Fantastic shot !

Thank you so much. This shot required lots of patience, but it was worth it.

Great shot!

I envy your patience (and faith) waiting for the dragonfly to come back!

Guess the dog wasn't with you, begging to keep moving? :)

Re: Great shot!

Thank you.
My dog was not there indeed. It is a bit too much scrambling over large boulders for him to get into this canyon.

Re: All of your...

Thanks Dan :)) I'm glad you enjoyed my gallery. Wildlife photography is my favorite and I like to do it the best while I'm on the run climbing a mountain.

Re: Wonderful

Thanks for bringing back these good memories. It was a few years back that I met this dragonfly.

Re: impressive

Thanks. I believe I was on a group hike that day. Since I don't eat when I hike ( except for some fruit) I entertain myself by taking photographs or looking for nice angles while others are eating their lunch ;)

Wow!

This is an impressive shot. I love taking close-ups but seem to get lost in the panoramas. Thanks
