Sweet!

Steam trains and mountains. It doesn't get much better :)

Re: Sweet!

Exactly,

Two things that I have loved since childhood: mountains and trains.

Re: Hi(salam)

I was lucky that the train came during the 30 minutes that I was on the summit.

The Train

I hope you rode the train. It's a fantastic ride; the views where it's high above the river are something else.

Re: The Train

Unfortunately I have never had the chance to ride it. I can only imagine the experience.

Don't miss the train.

Rode the Durango-Silverton steam locomotive from Durango to Needle Creek trailhead during a five day backpacking trek through the pristine Weminuche Wilderness several years ago. Hiked to Chicago Basin, climbed Windom Peak, passed abandoned mines ascending Columbine Pass, descended through beautiful Johnson Creek Canyon, over Humpback Pass, and eventually down Elk Creek Canyon to jump aboard the iron horse at Elk Park for the ride into Silverton. The fall colors were spectacular!
