Up the western slope, down the southern slope  Sucess!

On a long day of hiking, 17 miles altogether, my first destination was Eagle Cliff Mtn. Headed up the west slope just behind the Moraine Basin Museum, picking my way around some rocky cliffs, and then headed down the much easier southern slope, along a faint, but distinct trail. Nice views of the Continental Divide, but with the much larger Deer Mountain in the way views to the north of the Mummy Range was somewhat blocked. Nice hike.

My first Colorado summit  Sucess!

In Estes Park for a conference, a group of us went up Eagle Cliff mountain. Got hailed on for a few minutes, but very nice views of the Park from the mountain.

flashback  Sucess!

Date is somewhat of a guess. When I was 16, I arrived with my folks to stay at a cabin just below Eagle Cliff Peak. My friend Tony and I climbed the peak that afternoon. The next day we went up the Sisters, then the next, up Longs.

Nice Quick Hike  Sucess!

When I live in Estes and worked at the YMCA I used Eagle Cliff as a quick before work outing. Must have hiked/ran it about 10 times.

beautiful morning  Sucess!

We timed the hike to catch the red light of dawn on Longs Peak, and the plan worked like a charm.
