East Face Cirque

East Face Cirque

A picture perfect September day in the Lost River range. Wes is deep in contemplation over the route that he and Kevin will use for their intended climb. The vertical rise from the lake to the summit is 2440'. Lost River Range - Mt Borah, Idaho Sept 24, 2011 (photo by Bob Boyles)

Re: Thanks BOB

Man, I was so hungry I couldn't sleep so I drove to the first truck stop I could find (Mtn Home), scarfed a plate of garbage food, downed some stiff coffee and drove until I got home at 4:05 AM. I saw the sun rise twice before I finally got to bed.

Re: Great view

By Canadian Rockies standards this is an easy approach. It's the drive in that sucks. The road is worse than it was 35 years ago. There are a couple of places where a high-cg rig could easily roll over and if it's wet or snow covered forget it. More than once in Idaho I've come across rigs that were buried in snow for the winter.

Worth the Drive

May be a sorry excuse for road maintenance but The Lost Rivers are worth the trip, as are all of Idaho's ranges.
2 sunrises and some griddle food; now that's quite a day!
