| Nice hike, nice views, threatening weather. Started at the Grandview TH, hiked to Hades Pass, and then followed the ridge to the summit. Also did 11470. It was challenging to get from the summit of E Grandaddy to the saddle between it and 11470. We had several false starts but eventually we wound our way down through the cliffs on the northeast side. I took my pack off at one point to explore and sure enough it started rolling. My GPS came out of an outside pocket and they were both tumbling towards the cliff with me yelling no, no, no! The GPS stopped right at the edge but my pack went over. :( I was able to climb down to get it but it took awhile. It took us so long to get to 11470 and back that we were worried Dickey's Barbeque Pit would close before we got there but fortunately they were open until 9 and we made it with 1/2 hour to spare. |
