East of Hochspitz / Monte Vancomun

After descending from the summit of Hochspitz / Monte Vancomun, we continued the hike towards the east. A strangely dark rocky ridge (may be even volcanic by origin) awaited us, and we were disappointed as the path went again considerably down and then up again. No place to have a comfortable lunch until the saddle before Steinkarspitz / Monte Antola (seen left behing). On the right is Monte Peralba / Hochweißstein. August, 2009.
