Quest for 7000 feet of vertical
I think most people would choose to start from Squaw Peak Road. More adventurous people would start from the Y. The truly crazy would park down on E 820 N to squeeze some more elevation out of the hike. The total amount for the summit run was 7400 feet. It's about 500 feet for the peak to peak ridge and there was another 300 feet to make up going around the unnamed peak getting back to the trailhead. For the day it was 8200 feet or so. Got some cheesesteaks when we were done, it hit the spot

East Provo Peak
As part of a traverse from Shingle Mill Peak to Provo Peak, with Ben Stokes. Started up Dry Fork to Shingle Mill, traverse to Provo, with a descent down the North Ridge of Provo into Burnt Hollow and bushwhack down to the Squaw Peak road eventually getting back down to my truck at the Dry Fork TH. Pretty awesome day. The bushwhack down Burnt Hollow was pretty brutal.
This was the last Wasatch 11,000 footer that I needed!!!
From Provo to Shigle Mill with Freedom and East Provo in between. Great day. ~14 mile loop to get back to car.

To hell and back again
It was getting dark but I didn't want to come back again so against my better judgement, I decided to cross the ridge over to East Provo Peak. The scree and talus are extremely loose and the scrambling was the same with the bonus of wind! If you love to suffer, this is most certainly the hike for you! Needless to say it got dark on me as I was going down East Provo Peak and I had to reascend Provo Peak in the dark. It is even worse in the dark believe it or not. Finding the way past the scrambling was a pain and then the steep section before the summit was extremely tedious. The remnants of the sunset was pretty cool, but didn't make up for the ridge. The things I do for the Wasatch 11'ers.

West Ridge
Made the short but steep hike up to the top of Provo Peak, and then continued on to East Provo Peak with David. We started out descending the southeast slopes and then traversing over to the ridge between the two peaks, but after encountering some miserably loose shale (honestly, the worst terrain I've ever encountered) we decided to stay on the ridge on the way back, which proved to be much easier. Even on the ridge the rock was a bit loose in places though, so I'd urge caution to whoever tries it. See "Jekyll & Hyde" trip report for details.

East Provo
After Provo Peak, we decided to climb East Provo. From the top of Provo Peak it looked like the main ridge line connecting the two peaks was a bit treacherous, so we decided to descend south of the ridge line and then traverse over. It was a mistake. Sticking to the ridge line was much easier as we found out on the way back. The scenery was great. It got pretty cloudy and we were worried about storms, but thankfully it cleared out.

We did it!
I hate this mountain so much. Actually, once you get passed the thumb of rock and you stay on the ridge, it is not too bad. However, going back up to Provo up its east ridge is probably the worst thing ever. I hate rotten rock and it is not fun. It's like Moogie says though, if you want all the 11ers, you gotta bag it.
I heard the hype about this peak. I had mentally prepared for the arduous task at hand. I was ready for whatever this peak could throw at me. Well to say that it was hard is a fair assessment. Honestly I felt like there were a few class four sections, at least along parts of the ridge I was on, a slip most certainly could have been fatal. However the knife ridge was not the terrible part. The terrible part for me was reascending up to the top of Provo Peak along the east ridge. That was tough! However the view of Provo Peak is phenomenal, and there was some fun to be had. If this rock was solid it would be an incredible ridge to climb. Despite the great looks, and some fun that we had together, I feel that me and East Provo are done. We are never getting back together. Like ever.

via Bartholomew Canyon
Parked on the far side of the water tank at 6240' and walked the road up Bartholomew Canyon. When the road ends at about 7600', there is a small path leading to a coloir. I followed the coloir to where it opens up and then headed for the west ridge of E Provo, and then to the top. This is a great route to do on snow and avoids driving the Squaw Peak Road. It took 3:12 to the top and 5:44 round trip.
Started just above Rock Canyon Campground/Dry Fork Trailhead and ran up to the trailhead. Made it from Trailhead to the summit in 52 minutes running time. The scramble down off of Provo Peak towards East is terrible---I really did not enjoy it and I've done a lot of legit mountains---took 37 minutes going pretty hard. I was able to come back in just under 30 because I also figured out to stay on the ridge as much as possible. I raced off of Provo Peak to the Trailhead in 19 minutes and 41 seconds and then down the additional 2.5 miles to my car. Beautiful day up top and not windy for once! Ran in to VanMan on top and we chatted for half an hour or so.
Climbed Provo Peak very quickly and thought this would be a breeze. All of the loose scree made it tougher than I thought. Although the views of Provo Peak's east face were quite impressive. Tried to stay mostly on the ridge to minimize my scree exposure
I did not have quite the ease that another adventurer had in getting to this peak from Provo Peak. I cut my route time by a ton on the return because I knew how much ridge I could maintain. In all, this is not a "fun" climb like so many others are. But if you want all the 11ers, you gotta bag it. :)

Provo and East Provo Peaks
Hiked up Provo Peak, and then on to East Provo Peak. It took 1:09 to get to the summit of Provo, and another 40 minutes to summit East Provo. Car to car was around 3 hours 15 minutes. This was my final summit for completing the 11,000 foot peaks in the Wasatch.
