A COUPLE ADDITIONAL INFOS

ADDITONAL TRAILHEAD TO SALMON LAKE/ WILLOW LAKES

Rock Creek Trailhead

ROUTE IN SUMMER FROM SALMON LAKE

route in summer (without snow) - don't head up the ravine as seen on the pics (awful talus field in summer) - head up the wide talus field you see from Lake Salmon almost reaching up to the ridge)

NO SAFE DOWN CLIMB FROM SUMMIT WITHOUT A ROPE

There is no save down climb route from summit to head on to Mt Silverthorne without a rope- you must rapel down at least 150 ft
If you cannot then you need to climb back to the big notch in the ridge and downclimb from here either to Salmon or Willow Lakes. Down climb to Salmon Lake is on a really nasty talus field - if I would do it again I would descend to Willows Lake and take the trail back to Salmon Lake - a lot easier.

WILDLIFE
moose are in the area - and mama ain't happy if you get between her and her baby. I startled a moose cow with her calf out of their sleep in the willows, when I got water out of the creek. Was really worried she would attack, but after a minute or so she decided to move on
