a long wet New Year's Day  Sucess!

Be very careful on top in inclement winter weather as big pieces of ice get blown off those towers from way up that are very dangerous and could quite conceivably be fatal if you were standing in the wrong place at the wrong time. After the first round I felt like a soldier in wartime right after a bomb hit.

Much more strenuous as a New Year’s snowshoe than a summer road walk.

Inclement Weather  Sucess!

We decided to start the new year right with a cold, wet, windy snowshoe. Good company and good attitudes kept it fun. Alexei was hit in the head by a piece of falling ice from the towers on top. Thankfully he was not seriously hurt, but we wasted no time getting off the summit after this.

Foggy summit  Sucess!

Yes the summit was very foggy, but I got a consolidation prize where there were some decent that opened up. Went up on Thanksgiving to decent views. Then I went up New Years Day 2009 and while on the summit I saw Magellan get whacked on the head with ice on a foggy, cold and rainy day.

A great end to a long morning...  Sucess!

Shortly after summiting Middle Tiger Mountain, I summited East Tiger Mountain. Wonderful views from the top!!! A lot of mountain bikers were on the gravel roads. A few hikers and trail runners were going to & from the summit, as well.
