Eastern Chipmunk

[ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ]
Eastern Chipmunk
An Eastern Chipmunk, Tamias Striatus foraging for maple seeds on the forest floor.

Chipmunks are a bit smaller than red squirrels and have a very obvious stripe; chipmunks also spend more time on the ground and are more likely to hide under a rock or log than up a tree.

This one was spotted at low altitude (550m) in Sutton, Quebec (a few kilometers north of the Vermont border), but it's the same species throughout the East.
