Day started out gorgeous but the clouds moved in quickly from the north. Walked down in the rain, wind, and little bit of hail. This was my 27th county high point with two more to go.

Hiked this on with my daughter Tori on a breezy, partly cloudy, cool July day. This was another "twofer" (Uintah cohp and Daggett cohp) in my pursuit of the highest point of Utah's 29 counties. 27 counties down...2 to go.

From Chepeta Lake along with Daggett Peak. Very enjoyable hike to this Utah county highpoint. I crossed through a heard of at least 30 elk about half way up and saw quite a few mountain goats right off of the summit. From the summit I went over to Daggett Peak, great views looking down the canyon towards Daggett Lake. Perfectly clear day with killer views in all directions.

Took the Spirit Lake to Dagget peak to Eccentric Peak and down the north face to Dagget Lake and then back on the well maintained trail (once a bit away from Dagget Lake). This made for a very entertaining trip and is suggested to a there and back and only slightly longer from this side. The south side looks relatively boring comparatively. If I were to do it again I would do my loop in reverse. Going down the face of Eccentric was steep and loose and would be more enjoyable to ascend and then descend the more gently Dagget peak. The summit itself is among the broadest I have stood upon. The views to the east are charming and show the gently character of the high Bollies as relative the more profiled western Uintah. We saw many mushrooms en route especially around the picturesque Dagget Lake. The area above the lake was also very pretty. This peak surprised me and was more enjoyable than I foresaw. Only 2 more to finish the highpoints!

Climbed from Chepeta Lake. Beautiful afternoon above treeline and about a million stars seen from campsite near the lake that night.

Hiked from Spirit Lake to Daggett Lake then straight up the North side. From Eccentric peak over to Daggett peak and then back down to Spirit lake. It was about 9 miles total. I think this loop made for a little bit more exciting outing than just and up and back type of deal. No back-tracking at all.

Came up with Kirt and the boys for a 4 day backpacking trip that didn’t quite work out like we planed. We camped next to the lake and headed out the next morning. We made it over half way up and Kirt was out for the count and went back to camp and my son and I went up to the peak. Came back to camp and packed out.

My wife and I carried our kids up so I guess I'm signing in for 4. Windy, a bit chilly for July and a wife wondering why I took her up such a boring summit. I'm almost wondering why myself. Nice hike on a nice fall day with Moogie737 and Brent. It took 2 tries to get to the trailhead. We made it almost as far as Park City only to be towed back to Salt Lake at which point we tried again in a different car.

#1 10-7-08 With Brent and Zeejay made it to the "rounded" top in spite of 4" of new snow. Even found the Forest Service marker at the high point. Bagged Dagget Peak en route. The snow made scrambling rather tricky at times. Beautiful day! #2 9-6-14 New approach, same "peak." Das Wetter war fraglich und praesentierte grosse Ueberraschungen. Aber sicher waren wir.

I don't recommend puking your way up as a means of transportation. Must have been the Arby's from the day before...
Ended up going home early, putting a damper on what was supposed to be a 4 day backpack trip with the kids.

I enjoyed this hike. After hours on the dirt road behind cowboys herding cattle I finally made it to the trailhead. Most of the road in has been burned on both sides from the Neola Fire. I think it probably took me two hours to do it roundtrip. I saw several deer, 4 mountain goats on the summit and best of all a bear cub ran in front of my Jeep on the way in, didn't see his momma though!

The hike itself isn't extremely exciting, but on our hike in past Chepeta Lake and some marshy areas we spotted three moose feeding in the lakes.

An interesting area with friendly folks at Chepeta Lake. They wanted to know how a Washingtonian knew about this lake. I could only smile as I knew that trying to explain my county highpointing quest would be looked upon as rather strange.

My partner on this effort was Dennis Poulin.

The climb was more of a hike with a lot of talus negotiating.

Windy on the top and the highest point was at the shelfter with the witness BM.
