| Three times as part of the Welsh 3000s. This is the most morale sapping ascent of the whole route. The ascent from Nant Peris is unremittingly steep and not very interesting. Tried different routes each time - up the edge of the slate tips and along the ridge (sadly not a very pleasant ridge, more of a whaleback covered in boulders) straight up to the summit from Cwm Dudodyn (steep tussock grass, not much fun), and up Cwm Dudodyn to Bwlch Y Marchlyn which is probably easiest but slowest. Nice views from the top make up for the approach. |
