Barker Pass Rd Trailhead
Beautiful day in October. No wind and a lake view that never gets old. Round trip was about 6.3 miles with 1700 ft of gain. If I had to do it all over again I would probably take a more direct (shorter) route and climb the north ridge from Barker Pass road.

Ellis Eye Land
From Trailhead near Barker Pass. Some seriously stunning views almost immediately and at the summit. This day also had the somber view of the vast Tamarack fire south of Tahoe. A very pleasant hike with big dividends.
Hiked with people from my grad program in September 2015. Was mesmerized by the view and got a lot more into peakbagging after this one.

Dayhike
Solo from the standard trailhead. Found this to be my easiest OGUL so far, but with a pretty incredible view of Tahoe from the west. Not super crowded, pretty windy day.

From Sno Park
Intended to attempt both Twin Peak and Ellis, but Barker Pass Road was closed all the way down at the Sno Park, so decided to hike up the road to the pass, then through lots of snow over to Ellis Peak. The thought of backtracking to the pass and taking the road 7 miles out was enough to get us to go cross country on descent, although we still logged over 17 miles on the day. Trip report is HERE
