Emerald Pools - ZNP

Emerald Pools - ZNP

Emerald Pools from the Kayenta Trail in Zion National Park. It's rare that you can get a shot of all the pools flowing in one photos, but during this flash flood is was possible.

Looks like . . .

. . . a bad day to be in Heaps Canyon! Or are those (upper) falls in the exit from Behunin? I did Behunin once (on 29 April 2007), but I am not familiar enough with this view to know which is which.

Re: Looks like . . .

The lower falls are coming from Middle Emerald Pools dropping into Lower Emerald Pool, The falls on the right (lower) are water draining from Behunin. The Fall in the back (the tall one)is drainage from Heaps.

Re: Looks like . . .

I would not want have been in any slot canyons that day. Just getting to Upper Emerald Pools was a chore. Pretty though! I love flash floods ... as long as I am not in the middle of one!
