Emerging Snowplants, Saracodes sanguinea

Emerging Snowplants, Saracodes sanguinea

It's always a pleasure to find smooth and pristine Snow Plants such as these. Though these plants may seem common, it is only because they are so visible. They are illegal as well as impossible to collect. Photo taken near upper Cold Creek, Carson Range, June 11, 2007. Snow Plants are one of the more unusual Sierra forest residents.
