At one time, a person could drive all the way from the gate to this spot via NFD 74. As Redwic has shown in his pics, that road is now going to be just a memory as it will never be fixed. In 2003, I was able to drive all the way to this spot in my Honda Accord. Thanks Redwic for putting this "reminder" route in. Yes, it is now one heckofa hike. A person now really "earns" this one if they follow the old road route. The hike to the top starts to the right of the old fire ring, just head uphill but be sure to take bearings of where you start uphill from.
