Basically, that is what the sign is telling you but if you will look beyond the sign, you will see a trail cutting up the hillside just beyond. That trail will save you a lot of bushwhacking and time although it peters out in about a mile or so and you then just need to find your way cross country. GPS waypoints helped on getting to Outlaw and Hidden Meadows and then up to Bare Pass.
