I climbed Estes Cone in the summer of 2008. It was an enjoyable hike with great views although everone i met on the trail and have talked to who has climbed it agree that the final push to the summit where most of the altitude is gained is steeper than expected. I missed a cairn, lost the trail (if it can be called a trail at that point) and ended up bushwacking straight up making it even steeper than it needed to be. Anyway it was a beautiful day with rewarding views. I hope to do it again some day.
