Europe's largest natural sandstone arch

Europe's largest natural sandstone arch

This is the Pravčická Brána, or Prebischtor, situated in the Czech portion of Saxo-Bohemian Switzerland. Parts of the "Narnia" film were made here.

Re: Prebischtor

Eric, you outdid yourself on this one.

My Czech ancestors didn't know WHAT they were
missing when they immigrated to America in
the 19th century.

Re: Prebischtor

Thanks so much Larry!! :-)
Interesting - so your ancestors were Czech? I had always thought they might be from France, as I take it Carreau is your family name?
Yes, that Prebischtor is really spectacular, and so were many other spots I discovered when I was in that area two weeks ago. There are still more pics coming!
Many cheers,
Eric

not sure

Prav?ická is really the largest in Europe. There are a bunch of other natural arches elsewhere in southern countries. However for sure Prav?ická is the most photogenic !

Re: not sure

You could be right...just yesterday evening I looked at Vid's fantastic album of photos he took in the Ardèche, and I was also starting to have a couple doubts as to which of these arches is truly the largest in Europe...but in any case it's still the biggest one in the Czech republic! ;-))
