Nah, I picked a couple different mountains for that day, and Excelsior was my first choice. Upon finding out the road was barricaded with large boulders and barricades, I moved on to #2 on my list. No worries though.

Canyon Creek Road now openAs of 2015 the road is now open and the Damfino Lakes Trailhead has been renovated. The road is rough but it is open.
