Field Mouse
Field Mouse (Apodemus agrarius) photographed on the meadow below Mount Mala Rawka at 930 meters on July 10, 2007. Bieszczady Mountains.
Field mice are agile leapers and swimmers. They dig burrows that they inhabit during the nighttime hours. Most individuals live their entire lives and die within 180 meters of their birthplace.

Are you sure this is a field mouse? It got my attention as it looks like a northern birch mouse we once met on a trail in the Nizne Tatry at around 1,100m. They may be quite rare in Poland but they do live in our mts as well.
Please let me know what you think - without mentioning those little creatures to Żwirek:)

Apodemus agrarius and Sicista betulina are very much alike and can be easily confused. I have been observing this animal for a very long time and I'm sure it was an Apodemus agrarius (mysz polna). Thank you for your information and the wishes.

Thank you for the comment. In Poland it is common for little girls to have hamsters as pets. They resemble this mouse a little bit.
