The journey through the Fiery Furnace often involves ledges, slots, scrambling and friction climbing. Here a guided tour enters a narrow slot to view the hidden and mysterious Skull Arch. You must get a reservation for a guided tour (highly recommended), or a permit from the Visitor Center to enter the Furnace on your own. Be advised that unguided people get lost and stranded in the Furnace and are routinely rescued. The Furnace is very complex, and defies accurate mapping.
