Fireweed

Fireweed

Latin name : Chamaenerion angustifolium Some botanists call this perennial also Epilobium angustifolium. In Poland it occurs in open woods and along streams. It blooms from June to September and can reach height up to even 1.5 meters. Wild animals do not eat mature fireweed. This photo was taken by my wife near Mount Mala Rawka in the Bieszczady Mountains. July 2007.

Dzieki, Henryk !

Fireweed is my favorite flowering plant! I most certainly apoligize. I didn't know you had this flower in Poland.

Maybe I like it so much, because I am part Polish. I used to be a wildland firefighter,
and this plant always COMES after a fire.

At the present time, I am wondering if the
PHOTO that I posted is truly FIREWEED. It looks different from some of the others.

Thank you & have a nice day, Henryk!!!

Henryk ?

Nie mowie po polsku - Prosze mi pomoc!
(Pozdrawiam?) I'm working on getting more photos downloaded to Sp. I guess that shows how isolated I have become; not knowing about Fireweed being common in your part of the world. Do you have forest fires and flooding of rivers, there???
Dzieki and regards to your great photos.
