First glimpse of Mount Powell...

First glimpse of Mount Powell (the peak on the right) from 11,000 ft, just below the timberline. In a few hundred yards, the ridge of Flat Top Mtn swerves to the East and the goal goes out of sight, and you don't see much of its East slopes for the next four miles. Of course Henrys Fk Peak (on the left side of this shot) and 13'ers further East are dominating the view all the way.

Perhaps add to caption for clarity. Henrys Fork Peak (left) and Powell (right) seen through the trees.

Thanks Scott

That's about the only place on the North route where you can see Powell from afar - and not without some trees getting into the picture. But as it often happens, the best view of a peak is from a route to another peak :)

My main rationale for climbing Powell was, in exactly the same logic, to have a good view of ... Red Castle!
