Fishhook Arete

Fishhook Arete

Fishhook Arete as seen from the approach from Whitney-Russell Col. Pitch numbers correspond to Supertopo's description. P8 is atop the West (true) summit of Russell. The "dip" after P4 is a short (~10 foot) downclimb. P7 (acc. to Supertopo) starts off with a short 5.7 crack and then traverses class 4 ledges on right side of arete. Also, it looked as though you could bail (1 double rope rap??) back down to the scree field on right from notch just beyond & below "P4" (June 19, 2005).

Re: Clear and concise!

Thanks Haydar.

For what it's worth, I think it's a nicer looking line from afar - the actual climbing is only OK.

Re: Clear and concise!

All of RPC's photos are great and they all come with great descriptions. If there ever was an example of a great way to submit photos loaded with information, RPC is the man.
