Huge panorama of Piz Cambrena, Piz Palü, Bellavista and Piz Zupo - from La Spedla ridge on Piz Bernina
|[ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ]|
La Spedla is the local name for the south ridge leading to the summit of Piz Bernina. In German, it's called the Spalla Grat. From Rifugio Marco e Rosa, the route begins on the glacier, but higher up it is a rocky ridge, grade III. Being on the end of the rope, between two steep sections, I had plenty of time to look around and take pictures as Hermann prepared to lead the next steep bit.
From left to right: Piz Cambrena (3606), Piz Palü (3900), Bellavista (3922) and Piz Zupo (3996).
Warning: the full picture is huge! I purposely posted this picture in great detail, in case anybody wants to look at the finer points, or print it. Besides, it will still be useful by the time we all have 100" screens ;-)
